A full day visiting not only the Ciede Fields Centre but some  fascinating  and beautiful surrounding Neolithic gems, led by the  knowledgeable and enthusiastic proffessor Seamus Caulfield. One of the  delights was visiting Dun  Briste, an impressive sea-stack, estimated to  be approximately 50 metres approx. high, standing 80 metres off  Downpatrick Head, (Knockaun, east of  Ballycastle, Co. Mayo). But that  was only part of a lovely and stimulating  day, travelling from ancient site  to ancient site. June 24 Hazelwood House has always been a local place that I have  always wanted to visit. So when the SFC planned a tour of the interior of  the house I  could not wait until we stepped over the threshold of this  important house of Sligo, former home of the Wynnes, a prominent Sligo  family. Built by architect  Richard Casell in cut and polished limestone,  this Palladian style estate house is located in mature woodland on the  banks of the Garavoge River and Lough  Gill. The house was completed  in 173 with a four storey facade and two lateral curving wings. The Hall  door is reached by climbing a flight of stone steps  leading onto a  spacious platform which offers fine scenic views of the mountains of  Leitrim and of North County Sligo. Today Hazelwood House is one of   County Sligo's most neglected treasures  Easter 2012, Bruv and family come over. So proud to show them all the  changes at Fernlea. Ha.d a stay in N. Ireland with them, visiting The  Giant’s  Causeway and the fabulous Dunluce Castle. Being Easter we  sent the kids around Fernlea for an Easter Egg hunt. I had hidden eggs  around the gardens and  fields. It didn’t take eager Curtis and Teigan long  to find them. We did the normal things, walks, football and meeting the  family, and of course drinking and  eating around a blazing fire or two.  (left) The gang take a rest during our Slishwood Walk 13:19 15/04/2013
